Planning Your Field Trip

With so much to see and do, the team at the Alligator & Wildlife Discovery Center has put together this guide to help educators plan an adventure that educates and entertains! By predetermining a number of aspects of your field trip, we can work together to ensure students, teachers and chaperones alike have a seamless experience.

Let’s Start with the Basics

Reservations are required!
School programs are available Monday–Friday, September through May.
Summer Programs are also available.

  • Complete and return the Field Trip Reservation Form at least 3 weeks in advance of your trip.
  • Once registered, you will be emailed a confirmation packet which includes arrival information and suggested activities.
  • To receive discounted field trip rates, schools or recreation departments must make one payment for the entire group in the form of cash, credit card (Visa,
  • Mastercard, or Discover), or school/business-affiliated check. Please note that anyone paying separately will be charged the full price of admission.
  • Buses park is free; parking for other vehicles is based on metered lots or garage pricing.

Field Trip Prices

Minimum of one week notice is required to receive education rates. Prices are valid for schools and camps only. If reservations are not made prior to the field trip date, full admission will be charged. All prices are subject to 7% sales tax. Tax exempt schools/camps must provide a copy of their Tax Exempt Certificate prior to the field trip date.

Pricing for (Monday-Friday, excluding holidays)

Children Age 2 and younger – Free

Students/Campers Age 3-17 and college – $9 per student plus tax

Title 1 Schools Hillsborough, Manatee, Pasco, Pinellas Counties Only – $8


Chaperones
Includes teachers, aides, counselors, staff, volunteers, and parents. 1 free chaperone for every 10 paying students/campers within ages 3-17 required. Required chaperones receive free admission.

Chaperones must be added to the order to receive the discounted chaperone rate. Any chaperone not on the order is required to purchase a general admission ticket at full rate. $12 plus tax per additional chaperone

Field Trip Attendance

Group minimum is 10 students.
We do not have a maximum group size; however, we do have a daily field trip capacity. Large groups may be asked to visit over multiple days to meet these daily capacities.
Groups can bring lunches with them or preorder from the Discovery Center. Maximum seating for lunches 25.

Shell & Seabird Scavenger Hunt

(PRE K– 5th Grade)

Take a walk along the 1100 sqft boardwalk to the sandy white beach. Identifying local seabirds, looking for dolphins and seeking nature’s other wildlife. Discover the meaning of sustainability and identify the impact human activity has on the environment. Learn how you can live a sustainable lifestyle. Identify Sea turtle nest and learn migration of of Florida’s most fascinating and endangered reptiles (Seasonal)

This program is $2.95 per student and lasts 45 min
